The effect of drought stress on the transgenic sweet orange with TERF1 and wild type were researched. The results showed that the leaves of wild type were wilting with the increase of drought stress and the ability of photosynthesis was declining. Until severe drought stress (SRWC=10%), leaves shed and growth tends stop with the chlorophyll content decreased to 50.0%. While the leaves of transgenic slightly wilted, chlorophyll content decreased 25.9% only. The Proline(Pro) accumulation of transgenic plants increased significantly. Malondialdehyde (MDA) content was lower than that of wild type. Protective enzymes (CAT, POD, SOD) activity were stronger than the contrast. So the resistant to drought of transgenic clones was better than that of contrast. T3 clone expressed strongest resistance to drought among all the clones.
